Check for breached passwords
Veridenti can tell you if any of your saved passwords have appeared in a known data breach — so you can change the ones that put you most at risk.
How it works (and why it stays private)
When you turn it on, Veridenti checks each password against a database of billions of leaked ones using k-anonymity: your password is hashed on your device, and only the first five characters of that hash are ever sent. That's enough to fetch a list of possible matches, which are then compared on your device. Your actual password — and its full fingerprint — never leave your computer.
Turn it on
- Open Veridenti and find your Protection Score on the home screen.
- Under the score, choose Turn on breach-password check.
- Veridenti scans your vault and shows how many of your passwords were found in a breach.
Fixing a breached password
A password found in a breach is live danger — change it everywhere you use it. Tap Fix it on the finding and Veridenti drives the change for you: it generates a strong new password, opens the site's change-password page, and fills the current, new, and confirm boxes. Then it shows a review-and-submit banner — you check it over and press the button yourself.
"Breached password" vs "breached site"
- This password appears in a breach — the exact password has leaked somewhere. Change it.
- This site was breached — a company you have an account with was breached. Veridenti flags this separately and can contain it with masked email.
