Plain-language definitions for the terms you'll see in Veridenti.
Vault — the encrypted place your logins, identities, and details live on your device. Opened with your master password.
Master password — the one password you set to unlock your vault. It's never stored or sent anywhere, so only you can open your vault.
Zero-knowledge — a design where your data is encrypted on your device before it's ever stored or synced. Veridenti's servers hold only unreadable ciphertext and never your keys — so we literally can't read your vault.
Ciphertext — scrambled, unreadable data; the opposite of plaintext. What Veridenti stores and syncs.
Recovery key — a 12-word phrase you get when you turn on Cloud Sync. Your backstop if you forget your master password. Save it offline; it's the only other way in.
Recovery Kit — a printable, branded PDF of your recovery key you can download and keep with your important papers.
Masked email (alias) — a stand-in email address that forwards to your real inbox, so each site gets its own and your real address stays private.
Identity — your saved personal details (name, email, address, phone) that Veridenti uses to fill signup and checkout forms.
Private value — a saved detail (like a membership or rewards number) that Veridenti offers back on forms. Encrypted in your vault and synced to your own devices; never crowd-shared.
TOTP / 2FA code — the rotating 6-digit code from an authenticator app. Veridenti can store the setup key and generate the code for you.
Passkey — a passwordless way to sign in to a site using your device unlock instead of a password. Phishing-resistant.
Cloud Sync — the optional feature that keeps an encrypted copy of your vault in step across your browsers, and backs it up.
Self-heal — Veridenti automatically repairing a form fill when a site changes, so you rarely have to fix anything yourself.
Protection score — an A–F grade of how exposed your accounts are, with a ranked list of fixes.
Leak Radar — spots which company leaked or sold your info, using each site's own masked email — checked on your device.
Guardian (family helper) — someone you let see a one-way health snapshot so they can help — never your passwords or accounts.
